The Dimond Center is a regional shopping mall in Anchorage, Alaska, United States, located on the southwest corner of East Dimond Boulevard and the Old Seward Highway in south Anchorage
The Dimond Center is a regional shopping mall and is regarded as the largest enclosed mall in the whole of Alaska. It has more than 200 stores and restaurants and is frequented by locals and visitors.
The Dimond Center opened in 1977. However, it was not what it looked like today. The expansions took place in 1981. By the year 1996, a movie theatre was added and later, the Dimond Center Hotel was built on the southwest corner of the mall. The Dimond Center mall was fully completed in 2002.
The Dimond Center also has a skating rink, an arcade, a food court, a post office, a health club, and a bowling alley.
THE ALLEGED SPOOKY HISTORY OF DIMOND CENTER
There is reportedly another side to the history of Dimond Center. It is claimed that the mall was accidentally built on an ancient burial ground. Accordingly, the burial ground belonged to Native Americans who settled in the area thousands of years ago.
Reports claim that when the Dimond Center Mall was being constructed, those who were digging found the graves and also human bones. They then tried their best to gather all the graves that they could find and were very careful with the bones in order to take them to another burial ground. However, it is believed that because it was too tasking, not all the bodied buried there were removed.
After its completion, the Dimond Center Mall became a hot topic because allegedly spirits roam here and the building is really haunted. Because of this issue, many shoppers would not want to be at the mall when it already gets dark.
MANIFESTATIONS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITIES
People claim to hear the music of flute being played as well as some drums. These are usually heard near the bathrooms and the basement of Dimond Center at night.
Others have claimed that they saw transparent figures of wolves roaming around the mall. These wolves reportedly growl very loudly. Native people dressed in their native clothing have also been spotted by employees and visitors.
There were also reports about one particular room at the Dimond Center where there is a very strong presence. This presence is believed to be violent because it hisses at and pinches people when they are in the room for too long.
In one website, many visitors and former employees commented and shared their stories. One worker said that although he hasn’t seen these entities for himself, his co-workers claimed they saw three different ghosts. One is that of a tall man, another belongs to an old woman, and the last one belongs to a child. It is unclear who these ghosts are.
Another shared that he was at the Dimond Center at around 11 P.M. by the old bathrooms. He continued, “I heard yelping noises, but absolutely no one there. Weird. The Car machine then proceeded to go crazy and ALL turn on so I ran for my life lol.”
One more person wrote that she really feels uneasy whenever she is at the third floor of Dimond Center. She revealed, “I get really bad goosebumps walking on the third floor hotel Dimond center feel like someone watching I always get a bad feeling going on that floor but 2nd and 1st floor ok only the third floor creeps me out.”
A Grisly Incident At The Skating Rink One of the unexplained things that took place at the Dimond Center was at its skating rink. There was a refrigerant leak one time and the 24-year-old manager tried to stop the leak in a compressor room. Unfortunately, that manager died from suffocation.
Aside from the manager, a total of 33 were injured from the incident. Six of whom had to be taken to the hospital because of the extent of the injuries.
There was an investigation but oddly enough, there was never an answer as to why there was a refrigerant leak. Hence, the cause was never explained and the operations of the Dimond Center continued.
Accordingly, after the grisly dead of the manager, more strange occurrences took place at the Dimond Center. Many have reported an increase in the apparitions of the Native American spirits roaming around the mall.
Other Deaths At The Dimond Center
There were other deaths that took place at the Dimond Center aside from the manager who died from the refrigerant leak.
One death pertains to a woman who was just shopping at the mall but suddenly died from aneurysm. Another is the death of a couple who died from a shooting.
Throughout history, in any country, we notice that very often buildings have been built and rebuilt on top of places that used to be sacred sites for other civilizations and cultures, burial grounds...
And very often the remains were simply ignored, or partially removed. Which resulted in huge testimonies and stories about hauntings.
This Dimond Center story is just one of many.
